A Mid-Century Danish Chest / Cabinet attributed to Kai Kristiansen. These were designed in 1958 by Kai Kristiansen for Feldballes Møbelfabrik (FM Møbler). This lower cabinet has four drawers, each with characteristic handles. The drawers are also beautifully finished with dovetail joints.

This cabinet has been beautifully restored, despite the severe damage and neglected condition we received it in. Some signs of age & wear and minor repair marks. We repaired and restored this piece to the best of our ability.

Originally, some of these models included a teak swivel top designed for televisions or dressing needs. However, most of the tops on those we found online are no longer intact. The swivel function relied on round steel inserts, which have often been lost over time. Ours had one intact, though it wasn’t practical to keep it. As a result, there are slight but minimal marks where the inserts once were.

Note/Disclaimer:

Our images form part of the item/s description. Although all efforts have been made to refurbish our furniture to represent its original state best, it must be noted that most of the items we source date from the 1950s to the late 1970s. For this reason and although restored, signs of their vintage condition & age might still be visible. We will typically point out any visible/notable concerns. Take note of all photos or view the item in-store prior to purchasing.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness. The quality of the veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.
