Two food graters, available separately
These two charming food graters, each offering a slightly different approach to everyday food preparation.
Option 1. The larger cast iron table-mounted grater, designed to clamp securely onto a countertop or shelf, this piece brings a reassuring sense of weight and purpose. Operated by a smooth hand-turned crank, ingredients are guided through a rotating drum, allowing for efficient, continuous grating with a rhythm that feels both practical and quietly satisfying.
Marked Stahlreiber, this is a classic example of mid-century European kitchenware, crafted in cast iron with an enamel-coated finish and fitted with metal drum components. Pieces of this nature were widely produced in Germany and surrounding regions, typically dating from the 1950s through to the 1970s, built to last and intended for everyday use.
Option 2. The smaller, hand-held grater is compact and easy to use, featuring a perforated drum and a simple squeeze mechanism that allows for quick grating directly over a plate or bowl. Lightweight and practical, it’s ideal for cheese, garlic, or small kitchen tasks, with a satisfying, tactile feel in hand.

Both pieces are in working condition, operating as intended, with light, honest signs of age that add to their vintage appeal without detracting from their usability. Removable parts for cleaning purposes

Note/Disclaimer:
Our images form part of the item description. While we make every effort to restore our furniture to its original state, most pieces date from the 1950s to the late 1970s. As a result, and despite restoration, signs of their vintage nature and previous life may still be visible. Light traces of restoration may remain visible, consistent with authentic vintage furniture. In some cases, minor adjustments may also have been made during the restoration process to ensure the piece remains functional and usable. We will point out any notable aspects where possible. We encourage in-store viewing or careful review of photographs before purchase.
Items are wrapped and prepared for transport by us (not the courier) to ensure safe handling. Once items leave our premises, they are no longer insured. We recommend arranging goods-in-transit insurance through your own short-term insurer.
Due to the fragility of glass, we do not recommend shipping such items outside Gauteng. Please refer to our Shipping Policy for more information: https://retrend.co.za/policies/shipping-policy
