A nostalgic blend of mid-century charm and Japanese engineering, this Silver 4FP100S *portable phonograph and 4-band radio is a rare find. Made by Shin-Shirasuna Electric Corp. of Japan, it features a compact suitcase design with a built-in turntable, detachable speaker, and radio tuner (FM/AM/SW1/SW2).
*Note: To ensure full functionality, this piece has been carefully upgraded a few years ago, from battery power to mains electricity, making it far more practical than leaving it as a purely nostalgic collectible instead.
Housed in a textured black case with chrome accents and a molded handle, this stylish piece evokes the golden age of travel and music on-the-go. With its fold-out tonearm and analogue controls, it’s as much a collector's item as it is a functional conversation piece.
Background: "Silver" was a well-known consumer electronics brand under Shin-Shirasuna Electric Corp. in Japan, especially active during the 1960s–1980s. They specialized in portable radios, cassette recorders, and phonographs aimed at export markets. Their pieces are now collectible for their build quality and retro appeal.
Condition:
In working condition, with all key components (radio, turntable, speaker) functioning. Light signs of age-related wear are consistent with its vintage nature, but overall well-preserved. The electrical conversion adds to its usability and retro appeal. We used a very old vintage record for testing purposes, not sure what it sounds like with a new record, assuming much better.
