This beautifully crafted & rare mid-century coffee table was produced by Adam Bede, a respected British furniture maker established in 1948, known for its finely crafted hardwood furnishings. This particular piece is constructed from solid Rhodesian Teak, as far as we can tell, but they worked extensively with Rhodesian Oak, a dense, richly grained hardwood prized for its durability, deep golden-brown tones, and natural resistance to wear.
The design features:
-
A shaped, rounded-edge top with softly tapered legs
-
A central drawer with a turned teak pull
-
A functional slatted lower shelf on both sides of the drawer
-
An original brass Adam Bede plaque mounted on the front rail, confirming its maker
Condition:
This piece has been expertly restored and sealed, preserving the integrity of the timber while enhancing the warmth and character of the wood. It is in excellent vintage condition.
Dimensions:
94cm W X 53cm D X 46cm H
