A beautifully proportioned round dining table produced by DS Vorster during the mid 20th century. Widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most respected furniture manufacturers, DS Vorster is celebrated for its commitment to quality materials, precision joinery, and enduring modern design. A rarer find with the Kiaat finished top.
The circular tabletop offers generous surface space and comfortably seats up to six dining chairs, depending on chair scale, making it well-suited to both everyday dining and more social settings. The table is supported by a sculptural steel base, finished with brass-capped feet, introducing a subtle industrial contrast that enhances the table’s modernist character while maintaining a refined overall presence.
The timber top has been carefully restored to revive the natural grain and warmth of the wood, while the steel legs have been professionally cleaned and refreshed. The result is a well-balanced piece that combines visual strength with elegance, and one that sits effortlessly within mid-century inspired or contemporary interiors alike.
Chairs shown in selected images are for styling purposes only and are not included with the table.

As with many Mid-Century pieces, this item features a thoughtful combination of solid wood and high-quality wood veneer. Veneer has a long and respected tradition in furniture making, valued for both its aesthetic and structural benefits. When crafted with skill and applied in substantial thickness, vintage veneer proves highly durable, allowing for careful restoration, including retouching, sanding, and refinishing without compromising the integrity of the piece.
