A beautiful, John Tabraham for Kallenbach, extendable Sapele Mahogany dining table. It has repainted black steel supports with wooden legs.

This local furniture maker was renowned for high quality work and typical Mid-Century furniture. He was one of 2 designers in SA that used a steel combination on the legs to modernize the design.

The table extends to seat 8-10 people comfortably and the extension folds away neatly underneath the table. The wood was fully restored (stripped, sanded and sealed) and the table is in very good vintage condition.

Hard to find these mid-century bigger tables, so a good investment.

As with mostly all Mid-Century pieces it is a good combination of solid wood & a high quality wood veneer. Quality old veneer was long-lasting and for this reason it can be retouched or sanded and refinished. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on workmanship, condition and thickness of the veneer itself.
