A Magnificent (really), Mid-Century Walnut bed set by Torrente Furniture. This stately piece features gorgeous woodgrain, dovetailed joints and shows excellent craftmanship that has stood the test of time. It includes a solid Walnut base frame, a solid Walnut headboard section, and two solid/veneered Walnut pedestals (attached, but can be separated from the headboard section if needed).
The attached bed-end of the base also has built-in, lift-top storage, perfect for extra blankets/pillows, etc!
The original steel spring base is included in this set for your King-Size mattress (excluding the mattress used for photo purposes only).
Should the "headboard" section be too low for modern higher mattresses (though this one comes with a base), it can be mounted to the wall at the correct height with suitable brackets (if need be). The two pedestals have two drawers and an open cabinet that provides ample space.
The wood has been fully restored and the bed is in fantastic restored condition.

Shipment outside Gauteng is not calculated at check-out. When purchasing an item and you are based in either Cape Town, Durban, or outside Gauteng, select 'LOCAL PICK-UP' at check-out (DO NOT SELECT A SHIPMENT OPTION). Delivery to these areas is quoted based on the dimensions of the items bought.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness the quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.
