A very unique Mid-Century Sapele Mahogany double bed headboard with floating shelves with Formica'd tops on the shelves. The headboard has elegant lines and warm wood grain.
Note the difference in the Formica color between the top and bottom shelves, in case you cannot view this item. This was probably made this way many years ago to suit the color variants of the wood grain of the headboard. Minor wear to the front lining of one shelf.
The wood has been restored and sealed and the unit is in good vintage condition with minor age-related wear on edging. Please check the height of the headboard in context with the height of modern bedroom sets.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The quality, old veneer was long-lasting and for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the workmanship, condition and thickness of the veneer itself.
