A dining set consisting of a round, extendable dining table and 4 beautifully designed dining chairs. Note the openness of the chair design and the glorious wood grain. This dining set was brought over from the Netherlands to SA during the 70s and in all probability either of Danish or British origin.
The round table has a butterflied extendable feature, employing a central extension leaf that can be effortlessly folded to extend or close the table. The 4 dining chairs provide comfort with the upholstered seats and upholstered backrests.
The top of the table has been fully repaired, restored, and resealed in Rubio Monocoat. The chairs and the table base were lightly restored to ensure the originality remains. Although the set is in good refinished condition, it's worth mentioning that the extendable section experienced some wear over the years, and we've repaired it to the best of our ability. Minor marks are visible here and there.
The fabric is a lovely deep blue Hertex textured fabric with a high rub-count.

As with most Mid-Century pieces, it is a good combination of solid wood and a high-quality wood veneer. The history of veneer on furniture is a long and honorable tradition, and it depends on the veneer's artistry, condition, and thickness the quality of the old veneer was long-lasting; for this reason, it can be retouched or sanded and refinished.
